๐Ÿ”ฅ Hot Trends & Innovations Shaping Healthcare

Your weekly HealthTech Update

Hey there,

Welcome to this weekโ€™s overview of the hottest HealthTech news. Here are some of the latest trends in health technology, startups making waves, and apps revolutionizing healthcare:

๐Ÿ’กThe Chicago-based healthtech company Tempus AI has released the beta version of an AI-enabled software called Olivia, which is intended to assist patients in managing their medical records. Generative AI technology allows patients and caregivers to ask Olivia questions, providing real-time insights into their health data for informed decision-making.

๐ŸŒ  A recent study found that having a sweet tooth might be linked with a greater risk of depression compared to those who favor healthier foods. People who strongly prefer sweets also had higher inflammation, blood sugar, and lipids.

๐Ÿฅ— Football (or for US readers: soccer) superstar Cristiano Ronaldo just invested in the London-based personalized supplements startup Bioniq. Their biochemical database enables them to design personalized food supplements to optimize health.

๐Ÿ’Ž Walking in short bursts or climbing stairs can burn 20% to 60% more energy than sustained activity for the same distance, a new study has found. Experts caution that these findings may not apply broadly due to the small sample size and the young, healthy status of participants. Letโ€™s see what future studies will find.

๐Ÿ† First Lady Jill Biden just announced the ARPA-H Awards winners. The 23 recipients are startups and innovators in womenโ€™s health, addressing issues like cancer, ovarian health and gynecological care. In total $110 million will be awarded to those 23 innovators. Congrats!

๐Ÿ™‹ Treatments for anxiety, ranging from psychological interventions to antidepressants, can be quite effective for some people, but experts also advise self-care, including avoiding alcohol and illegal drugs, regular exercise, regular sleeping and eating habits, and relaxation techniques, including mindfulness. Here are also some mental health apps to check out.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Despite the global slow-down in venture capital, healthtech startup funding made a comeback in Europe in the 3rd quarter of this year.

Thatโ€™s it for this week. Wishing you a restful weekend ahead, and maybe try unplugging for a while. Digital detox works, and keeps you sane.
