👵 The German healthtech startup Family.cards just raised €1.2 million for digital accessibility solutions for seniors. Family.cards is empowering elderly people to access digital services. Research shows that as many as 69 million seniors in Europe are not able to use touch screens because of cognitive, physical, or psychological decline.
🧠 Sydney-based Neurode created a novel way to deal with ADHD: A wearable headband that can track and treat ADHD symptoms. You only have to wear it for 20 minutes a day, and the headband uses light electrical stimulation in the prefrontal cortex. The company said this type of stimulation helps treat ADHD symptoms like lack of focus and can compound over time as people continue to use the product.
💡 Embracing a pro-innovation approach can help close the EU health gap. Improvements in healthcare services across Central and Eastern Europe have increasingly become a political priority, as there continues to be an East versus West disparity in healthcare access. Apparently there is an 84% variance in availability of innovative medicines between Western and Eastern Europe.
🩸 A call to boost early detection of Type 1 Diabetes, which is an autoimmune and lifelong condition that can develop at any age, regardless of family history. Europe has the highest incidence in children and adolescents and the second highest per-person diabetes cost globally, spending approximately €175 billion in 2021. Early testing can help!
☀️ Respiratory diseases are increasingly exacerbated by climate change and worsening air pollution. At the annual European Respiratory Society Congress, stakeholders discussed utilizing technological advancements to enhance patient outcomes and reduce environmental impact, all while ensuring patient access and addressing health inequalities.
🌟 “Parks and Recreation” star Retta just shared how she learned to improve her glucose health after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and why she’s working to help others do the same. She is spreading awareness for National Glucose Awareness Week, which is taking place from September 23-29.
